Day 7 - 8 - April 10-11
On Monday we woke up for a fresh breakfast at 8:00 AM, then right off to a school , called Renacer, only 10 minutes away. At first I won't lie I was a little hesitant about going to the school and meeting a bunch of kids ranging from Preschool all the way up till Grade 12, but as soon as I stepped into the school my mind was changed. There were kids all around playing in the courtyard. It really was a sight to see. We started out with a tour of the school seeing all the class rooms and meeting some of the students. We then went to the courtyard again to hangout with the students during their break. After the break, we went to their classes. Each class took some of our team to ask them some questions. Andrew, Vince and I were taken to the Grade 10 class and asked questions like how old we were, where we are from, favourite colour and we would try our best to answer in Spanish. The highlight for me was playing volleyball with the kids as they seemed to be having as much fun as we were. Lots of hugs and conversations went by we finally decided to head home after a long and fun day.
Tuesday rolled around and we were right back at it again with going to the school and seeing the students again. I know for me personally I had met this one Grade 12 student named Richard who knew english pretty well and we clicked and we were able to have some good conversation. We actually sat through some of the classes with the younger grades in the morning. Vince and I were with the Grade 6 class. We just discussed words in spanish and english. After class was over we went home for lunch of hotdogs and fruit and I had a nap along with Andrew and Vince. Henry woke us up as the rest of the team was in the van waiting to go back to the school at 2:45 to go on a walk around the block with the students. Needless to say we hurried out of the room pretty quickly. The walk was great Richard had joined us and explained some of the places to me as we walked around. After the walk played even more volleyball while Franklin kept score. Overall had a great time these past 2 days at the school and I am looking forward to what is to come!
