Day 4

Buenos Noches de Abbotsford!  These are your friendly voices Ryan y Cameron. We had a devertirdo day. As usual profe Saul woke us up with a song Como la Flore. After this bonito song, we had a swift twenty-minute breakfast. After a momentous breakfast we headed to Centro de Fé and met our amigos.

We had a welcoming party that consisted of multiple grades doing performances, which we got to participate in. After this welcoming, we were turned into celebrities, as the younger students kept on asking for our autographs and to take pictures with them. Then the principal gave us a tour of the school which had a really unique design, as the classroom walls were only half the height of the roof. We also found out that their school days are only five hours long. Can you believe that?

We then had one on one time with the Grad class where we shared interests and built relationships with our new friends (even though we are both learning each others’ languages). We ate lunch with our new friends. The menu was rice, fried chicken, plantain chips, and beans with coke to drink. After that we listened to their presentation on Nicaraguan foods.

After that we walked to a park about ten minutes away, and on the way we continued to build relationships with the students. At the park we played multiple sports including basketball, volleyball, skipping, and the legendary Canada vs. Nicaragua fútbol game. We started the game down 2-0, but then Profe Mikey scored a goal and the score was now 2-1. And then yours truly Camer scored and tied the game. Unfortunately, those were the only goals we got. We lost 5-2 :( . Even though we lost, Kaj had some beautiful saves that kept the game closer, and Evan forgot this was a friendly game so he tried too hard and fell three times (LOL). Don’t worry Mr. Beugelink we still have the trophy.

We said goodbye to our new friends and headed back to our home. We had a nice relaxing time and ate snacks before dinner followed by team time aka T2 and now we are writing to our lovely family and friends who we miss so very much.

P.S. We heard Kai B. found a snake and put it in the girl’s room.  We also heard that Profe Mikey was the one with the idea. He can deny it all he wants, but we know it to be true.

To Roselene and Kervens, I don’t remember my horse’s name, but she was a chica, and she had a Spanish name, and I didn’t fall off! I only knew one of the songs at church, but I was able to mostly sing along to the other ones. Miss you and love you lots!  ~ Lucy

Lucy, we definitely noticed you were missing tonight at youth. :) Glad to see and hear you all having a fantastic time. Love that you're able to share experiences with the grad class. First a cockroach and now a snake, I wonder what's next. Looking forward to seeing what else you all get up to.

Love you, Kaitlin! I’ve been really missing you, and you missed a great St. Patrick’s day today. We pinched Grandpa (who forgot to wear green!) but Grandma remembered. 😂 Now we’re drinking Shamrock shakes and thinking of you. Love you lots! 💜

Amazing blogs that all of you students are posting, and great pictures! So happy that you are all being blessed during this trip and getting “hands on” experience about this country and its people. Brings back great memories for grandpa and I and the trips we were on. May our good good Father watch over you all! Love to my special girl Kaitlin!

Looks like an amazing trip! Nathan, Anna mentioned to me you told her on your last school ski trip that she “couldn’t handle the blue runs” but she proved you wrong! … how’s she doing managing Nicaragua?

I think Kaj and Camer should have been on the soccer team based on the praise they’re getting 🤔 cant wait to see them on the ACS pitch during lunch times when the sun comes out 😂And thank you for listening to my request on the photos of Reizy, it is a beauty. For Señor: you should use Junto a mí next for sure…maybe our Spanish students will sing along

Thanks for another great update. I love being able to follow along with your trip. We are praying for your team every day. The food sure looks delicious. The snake episode sounds terrifying - I hope it was a very small snake. So cool to be able to see the school and hear about how education runs in different parts of the world. Love the pic of Nathan signing autographs - those will be worth big bucks someday. Keep enjoying this amazing adventure but stay away from the snakes! God bless your team!

I love seeing these great photos of all of you! I also love not being in the same room as any snakes! I’m praying for your hearts to be soft to Him and to everyone you meet. Isn’t it amazing that God can use us to be a light even though we are imperfect and broken? Asking the Lord to help all of you be led by Him.

Another great update- thanks team! It must have been so interesting to learn about these students lives and how school works for them! Is their school day shorter for any particular reason and will that suggestion be brought up by ACS student council for future consideration? ;) “Don’t get your hopes up” , I am sure is what the lovely ACS staff would say in response . Have an awesome day ahead, hugs to Haven - the house is a little too quiet without you!

Nice to see the boss is getting some R&R in those hammocks. Not so excited about his snake idea - you can leave all prank ideas in Nicaragua, please and thank you! By the time you’ve read this you made it through two days with the students at CdF. Some of you have likely connected well, others maybe not so much. Some of you are thriving, some are possibly wondering why they’re not on a mountaintop with the others. All of that is ok and great! God is working in it all. You will each process differently and you will each be a blessing and be blessed in your own unique way. Stay curious. Stay open. Be you. You are deeply loved for who you are. Unless you encourage pranks that involve critters that should be left in their natural habitat. Then I’m not so sure…. 🫣

First off, Profe Saul has the best job ever and I love that he starts your day the right way! Secondly your meals are a feast and lunches back home are going to be so disappointing. You guys are being treated like royalty. Good job for being responsible with drinking water and wearing sunscreen. Congratulations Kaj for making some good saves and keeping the score in the soccer game respectable. Blessings as you continue to build relationships. Here’s a verse: ‭ “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful. Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.” ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭14‬-‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Keep enjoying each moment!
