Day 3

Hola familia y amigos! It’s Anna and Amanya here!

Thankfully, our morning wasn’t as eventful as yesterday, waking up to the frightful screams that accompany a cockroach in the bed. Instead, we woke up to Profe Saúl playing CoCo “un poco loco” blasting through our windows at 6:20 in the morning. We ate a nourishing breakfast and went straight to church dressed in our very best of course ;) It was lively, loud, and very energetic. There was lots of dancing and all of us were vibing along. The sermon was kindly translated to us by Profe Saúl and Andy from Iowa where we learned about temptation and God’s goodness.

After a large lunch at our temporary home, we drove to the gorgeous Pacific Ocean. Not to make you jealous, but it was almost 40 degrees and a UV of 13. While most of us wanted to tan, at the wise words of our leaders (Mr. Reez forced us to add that part) we lathered on sunscreen every thirty minutes and stayed nice and pale. We jumped through the waves, got salt in our eyes, and basked in the sun. Some of us also got the chance to ride horses on the beach! It was a nice relaxing day until we looked at the weather back in Canada: Sorry guys! While we were all attempting to tan, you were cuddled in your blankets. Kaj was again a victim when we decided to bury him head to toe in the sand. There were lots of friendly conversations and competitive sand-ball fights. The winner is still to be determined. We ended our day at the beach with delicious dinner of chicken or fish with fries.

On our long ride back feeling nicely hot and sandy, we stopped by the grocery store to buy some much needed junk food. Here, we can buy a three-liter bottle of pop for $1.30 and spend all of your gracious donations on food (just kidding of course). After team time tonight, we went through all of your lovely comments. So, to answer you guys,

To Matt, we took a moment to clap for Ryan’s calves.

To Shota and Mom, I did go ziplining and didn’t die. So now I can check that off of my bucket list of things I never wanted to do. While checking off riding horses on the beach off my bucket list of things I wanted to do.

To Nadia, your dad unfortunately refused to sing, however he did film us doing so.

To Mr. Beugelink, you gotta write to us sooner so that we don’t die without your expert knowledge about swimming!

To Kennedy, unfortunately, Kai left the skirt behind.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words, keep em’ coming!

You guys are having wayyyy too much fun🏝️🏖️👙in the 🌞!! That beach, picnic area and the church are nostalgic for me. I love the thatched picnic area. Loving all the photos and blogs. Carla, what or where do those places I mentioned and the bottled sodas (pops) remind you of?🤔💭 You all look very ‘dated’ in a nice way, in your frocks. It’s like little house on the prairie come alive. Absolutely magical! This is one unforgettable adventure for sure. Keep those blogs coming please, they’re so appreciated🙏🏾 Lotsa hugs 🤗 and much love 🫶🏽🌷💕

Cameron! I would love to say you are missing an incredible fun filled, fast-paced spring break back home, but... I think the few blossoms may have frozen, or drowned, I'm not sure which! It looks like you are all having an incredible trip! It is so exciting to hear about the great church service, see the adventures at the ocean and now you have had a great chance to connect at the school, so good! Don't worry about your March Madness bracket, we made one for you and you should enjoy Michigan going all the way.... Continue to have an amazing week enjoying all that God will do with your team! Mrs. Morrow - I miss you! I am glad that you get to chaperone the best group of people ever! Love you

Matthew, a servant of Jesus by the sovereign will of the Lord God. To the ACS students and teachers currently abroad in Nicaragua. Grace and peace to you all from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. My prayers are with you always. May God equip you in every way to carry out the beautiful ministry he has set before you. My heart overflows with joy to know that the Spirit is changing lives and turning hearts toward him. Embrace the calling of God as he beckons your hearts further into his fold. Do not be deceived that this is a “spiritual high,” the work of the spirit is eternal and does not fade. Emotions will fade and indeed the earth may pass away but the work of the spirit remains. Your heart is changed permanently, scripture says we are “sealed by the spirit” so have confidence that God is moving in powerful ways in you all. All joking aside I am very proud of you Ryan. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Blessings to you all until we meet again, Matt 🤙

Thanks for the update. The pictures are amazing. We have been "enjoying" a mixture of rain, snow, and balmy 3-degree temperatures ever since you all left. The ocean day looked so beautiful, and we are definitely jealous of the sunshine and warm temperatures. I am so thankful that each of you took advantage of this opportunity to go and spend time learning from and with our brothers and sisters in Christ who live in a different part of the world. Nicaragua is a beautiful country. I can tell that you're all discovering that for yourselves. I know that while you're there getting to know our friends at Centro de Fe, God is going to be working in you and through you. You will be a blessing to the people there, but you're going to be more blessed by this experience, by the people, and by His presence with you. I am so proud of you, Kaitlin, for doing the zipline. Way to be brave, kiddo! Regarding Mr. Beugelink's hope that the ACS football team will beat the Centro de Fe team, I wish you good luck (you're gonna need it!) :)

Hi Kaitlin, I really miss you. I’ve been playing Le Poisson Steve at least twice a day every day that you’ve been gone. I have a surprise for you at home. I can’t wait for you to come home. I love you lots. 🩷

So good to hear from you Anna! It is such a blessing to see all the smiles on everyone's faces ... and yes, your sunshine makes me very jealous ;) Thank you to the teachers for pushing the sunscreen and water drinking - this was my biggest worry for my fair, red-headed daughter :) Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers this week, and may God bless you all while you work with the children in the school. I pray you feel God working though you in the small details, and see evidence of His prepping ahead of you for your arrival. <3

Thank you for this fabulous blog post! I’m praying for all of you this week to be led by the Lord in everything you do. I’m praying that you will learn more about Him as you learn more about others and that He will use you to show Jesus’ love to those you meet. 💕💕 So glad to see the photos of Amanya & Lucy on horses. That looked amazing!

Thanks for the updates! That beach looked amazing! Lucy, your siblings have some questions for you: 1. Did you fall off the horse? 2. What was its name? 3. Did you know any of the songs at church, even though they were in Spanish? Also, your dad is jealous of the Coke in glass bottles - hope you enjoyed it. Hope you had another great day today!

Hey team!! Seeing all the photos is making me both insanely jealous and also super excited for you because this next week is the best of the whole trip. As you meet the amazing people of Centro de Fe this week, remember that God is not only working through you to bless others, but also in you. While He uses you for His glory, He is also using the people you meet to shape and change you. Also: As you get the opportunity to do some home visits this week, I have to warn you to watch out for suspicious dogs that have a history of peeing on members of past trips. God Bless you guys as you live out being his hands and feet in Nicaragua. Bring that trophy home 🫡

Hey! Looks like Verbo Church was awesome! The beach too. Actually I knew you’d read the swimming instruction comments a too late that was intentional. 😂. JK. The horses actually looked healthier than last year. Saul were they same ones as last year or did last years die and did they get new ones? These looked fed. Salt in the eyes and sand “everywhere” look in the corners of your shower and see how much of the beach you guys took back with you the Nehemiah center. Your bus worship is awesome. Ryan came to me real stressed last week bc he didn’t want to be the only one singing when you led worship at CdF. He was the loudest one in the video and you all were a full angelic choir! No problemo Amigos you got this!!! Have a great day tomorrow! Meeting our CdF friends. You start the day nervous and end the day stoked at the new connections you’ve made. I’m trusting that Carla, Mikayla, Nathan and Evan will take home another convincing win of the annual ACS vs. CDF football championship at the sports field. You are fighting to keep the trophy in Canada. Speaking of which. I was staring at it fondly as if in a trance on Friday then suddenly it hit me, (not the trophy, that would be weird) what hit me was the realization that the trophy was on my desk and you were in Nicaragua. Whoops 😬 😅. That’s ok I’m sure we’ll win anyways so no pressure. Besides it wouldn’t have fit in the suitcases anyway bc you all packed far more shampoo and conditioner than you could possibly use in 3 months of showers. You do realize that shampoo hardly lathers and makes suds with cold water… 🙄🤦🏼‍♂️. But I bet you all smell good. Which will help on the sweaty day tomorrow. Blessings tomorrow! Bring home that trophy that’s already here on my desk… Mr B
