Hello family and friends,
This is Sarah and Cam. Yesterday, we left ACS and set off on our journey to Nicaragua. Our first stop was Seattle, in which we talked Ms. Stewart into taking us on an underground train to Wendy's. The worker might’ve been hard of hearing as many of the teams’ names were misspelled and mispronounced. Evan’s name turned into “Haven”, Amanya was “Anya” and Kaitlin’s name was pronounced “Kahteen.” On the flight, there were two kinds of people, the ones who slept through the whole flight and the ones who pulled an all-nighter. We were a part of the latter.

Next, we were off to Miami. Where we all made our way to world renowned Chick-Fil-A where once again the workers did not know how to spell properly. As Cameron’s name was turned into “Camer.” On the flight from Miami to Managua, we were given forty minutes to fill out our customs forms which was the most stressful part of the trip.
We landed in Managua at 11:30 a.m. and left the airport at 1:00 p.m. We were greeted by some friends that drove us to our new home. On that drive we were shook by the difference between Managua and Abbotsford, especially how ruthless the other drivers were. We had some great conversations after dinner about what to expect and what we are going to learn through this trip. And here we are now writing to you about our eventful trip so far.
We love you all. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
P.S. Mike is going to read out all your comments to our team tomorrow, so say anything.

Woot woot!! Thanks so much for the updates. Sounds like an adventure has just begun!! Yeyyy!🫶🏽💫🎉 Havw fun and watch out for those aggressive (ruthless 😅) drivers. The ‘get there yesterday’ attitude can be fun to experience once in a while. Hugs and much love Team Nicaragua!!!!

Realized I need to comment again bc you’ll read this at the end of your Cultural day. I hope zipping thru the rainforest canopy was fun. Wish I could have seen Havens reaction to discovering that the “mist” from the canopy was actually Cicada urine. Hehe. So cool that God provides a natural moisturizer for our skin like that. I’m guessing you saw the monkeys on the boat tour. Who was the lucky one to get the lake flower from the boat guide? Did anyone see the fresh water sharks they say live in lake Nicaragua. How was Tip Top? Wi-Fi whoop whoop!!! Miss you all. Have an amazing day at church and the beach tomorrow. Drink lots of water and put on sunscreen. ;)

Yo what’s up guys, glad to here you made it safe to the Nehemiah center! Hope your first day was as gnarly as ours was. Over the next little while communicating with the students will probably be pretty scuffed, but my biggest piece of advice is don’t be afraid to mess up. Put yourself out there and enjoy this trip because it will be over before you know it. Also ask Ryan for translation help because he somehow passed the same level of Spanish education that I did lol. Carvajal feel free to hold him to the Jimenez standard. Don’t lose our winning streak in futbol against Centro de Fe! Tell my sweet sweet adorable tender hearted little brother that I love him so very much and he is so precious to me and I am so proud of him, even though he is probably denying that he knows me right now. (Ryan also feel free to buy me a local soccer jersey for a souvenir, maybe the red and white one because you love me so much) Blessings, Matt

Hey guys, I hope you guys had a somewhat relaxing travel day, I know it can be a lot. Idk when you guys will receive this but I hope your first day at the school is very fun and very fullfilling as u get to learn about their culture in a first hand experience. I know trying to communicate with the students might seem hard for some of you, but nothing will be too difficult if u use charades & Google Translate. I hope you all the best. P.S. I expect you boys to continue the new tradition of playing ‘The Belt game” & send the aftermath photos of ur battle scars to me😂 Anyways, From the best, Emilio

Hahahaha Camer!!! That’s a great nick name. Pls call him that for the rest of the trip. Next I will message Ava and see if I can get her to call him that! So fun! Glad you arrived safe and that the only trouble you had was mispronounced names at Wendy’s. Last night when I dropped you off I went to a McDonald’s and assassinated a Big Mac bc I was sad I was not going with you. Sigh… I had to sing to myself on the bus to keep the feelings of loneliness from becoming too overwhelming in that massive cavernous pink box hurtling down I5. Miss you all. Have a great time hanging out on the side of a volcano and zipping thru the jungle. Remember to scream nice and loud with your mouth wide open as you zippy zippy under the canopy. Nighty nighty all Mr B PS: I was kidding. Keep your mouth closed as you zip line. Ms Stewart will tell you why.

¡Hola! I’m Anna’s auntie. I lived for 4 months at a mission in Chinandega Nicaragua what feels like a million years ago. Nicaragua was a very formative place for me personally. I remember distinctly arriving in Managua alone, not knowing anyone with my back against the wall waiting and trusting that the Missionary I was working with would show up. He did, as God had work to do in my life. He will use this to work in your life too. Know I’m praying for your safety and that God works in you there too!

So glad to hear you made it safely! We’re betting that Kaitlin was one of the people that pulled an all-nighter. She is well known for staying up all night…. Although she doesn’t always do so well the next morning. Ask her or Sarah about the pancake incident! Kaitlin, we love you and miss you. ❤️ Enjoy your adventure!
