Day 2

Today was another great day here in the DR, hot and sunny of course!  We woke up to the sound of roosters crowing, which is a common everyday thing here, one we are starting to get used to as much as we might not like it.  Haha.

After breakfast we had orientation and instruction from Victor first.  then about 9 we headed for the school.  first the van had troubles with the clutch, so it took us a while to get out of there.  the driving here is CRAZY!!!  no speed limit, people just go whenever they want and cut off other drivers, and so there's lots of honking.

Today we did more painting of classrooms, and some of us wore the paint again (or was it done on purpose to make it look like they were working?!?!?).  LOL.  We also carried lots more blocks, and worked on building the walls of the second storey, as well as building our team (and bugging each other too of course)!  Much mortar was used and also flung around.  Some of us made some new friends in some of the kids at the school.

after dinner we did our team devotions, which was a good bonding time.  then Daniel picked us up to go to the Carrefour, which is like Walmart at home, so we could buy things we needed / wanted and also exchange our US money into pesos.  Tonight is the big baseball game between DR and Puerto Rico, so i wonder how much we’ll sleep tonight.....
