Today was a very eventful day! The busyness of the week has made rising from our beds feeling rested hard for some of us! Eric thankfully doesn’t have any lasting effects from this morning’s sleepy walk to devotions that resulted in being wide awake. A rebar bar that holds the tv in place tried taking him out!
We started our day off with a devotional and a tasty breakfast. Leaving for the job site on schedule todayt. Work was similar today with painting windows turquoise and walls white. Despite it being Saturday, there were quite a few children still at the Mzululwa school. Definitely a highlight of the day fist bumps, piggy back rides, chatting, whistling learning about the body anatomy in Tambuka, getting a good beat by stomping, clapping and playing drums on a barrel. Always something fun to do with the kids!
We worked till lunch today. Christabel and Joyce have made our lunches for the past week. Cooking everything on one small charcoal burner. The food has always been delicious. While the food was settling we did a practice warmup with the kids before we were off to a soccer match between the locals around the mzululwa school and our co-impact team. The field was massive, the grass tall and the competition was strong. Surprisingly with the help of Collins and 3 locals we did win the match 2 to 1. Thankfully there was no major injuries, despite one of the locals being sandwiched between two Canadians!
The adventure continued, we have been travelling to and from the job site with 2 vehicles. One had left during the course of the day, but broke down and never returned. So the 7 passenger vehicle needed to make two trips to get all 11 of us home. The group of 4 left behind started the journey home walking! The plus side it was easier to capture pictures of the lush Zambia countryside at the walking pace! About an hour into the journey they were picked up, their leg’s definitely had a workout today.
Back at the guesthouse we freshened up followed by supper. We were invited afterwards to Collins and Eli’s house for a visit! Spoiled with cake and treats, and a wonderful time of fellowship. Learning more about the work of CCAP and what Collins job all involves. Special to not only work but also take time to build relationships!
Each day we are reminded of the many blessings back home. Makes you thankful for the small things in life, like bug-less beds!
