The Long Drive

We started off from Lusaka at 5 am Sunday morning headed for Lundazi our destination. There was some discussion the night before weather we should leave at 4am or 6am. We thought Collins was joking, but it turns out he was quite serious about leaving early! We headed out on a foggy morning around 5am with much excitement and anticipation.

The team watched the sun come up and see their first glimpses of rural Zambia. We were prepared to have breakfast on the road with peanut butter and honey sandwiches. Eric had the idea of adding a banana which he said was really quite good.

We did stop along the road for devotions and reading from Phillipians 2:1-12

The one thing we didn’t quite understand was how poor the roads have become! I asked how the roads were from Chipata to Lundazi and only received laughter from our driver Collins and his cohorts.

The once 8 hr drive was expected to be 12 or 13 In the end it was 15 hrs to reach our destination. There was quite a bit of sleeping on the bus and everyone was very relieved when we arrived!

After a good night of rest we are excited to begin a new day with new adventures.
