Prior to Departure - Devotions on Patience and Furthering God's Kingdom by Keiyshia, Hannah, and Rachel

Passage: James 5: 7-11

The moral of this passage is that when the church is not actively working it is prone to fighting. James calls us to wait patiently for the Lord's return, but this patient waiting is not without a purpose. Jesus calls His followers to take the good news of salvation to all peoples and all nations. As Paul put it, we are ambassadors, imploring people to be reconciled to God. Already in the days of James, some believers were losing patience waiting for the return of Christ - this situation is certainly no better today. But, when we are active participants in God's mission, each day of delaying His return is another day of opportunity.

This is relevant to our trip as this is an amazing opportunity to practice patience in waiting for Jesus' return and for treating each and every day as an opportunity to further His kingdom. Although we are not on a missions trip every day, this is a good reminder to use each day as well as possible to live out God's will.
