A Journey of Faith: The First Day

Introduction:

Embarking on a missions trip is an incredible opportunity to serve others, grow in faith, and experience different cultures. Today, we will delve into the exciting first day of a Christian school missions trip, with safe and uneventful plane travel (Praise the Lord!), a familiar hamburger dinner at a Dominican “Wendy’s” in Punta Cana, and a then three-hour bus ride to our destination location. Our ETA at the Guesthouse is 3am, Dominican time, and then straight to bed, so we can wake up for Church tomorrow morning. (Blog post written on the bus, on route).

Flights:

The journey began with a sense of anticipation and excitement as the team gathered at the airport. After heartfelt prayers for a safe journey, we boarded the plane, knowing that God was with us every step of the way. The flight was smooth and uneventful, allowing for sleep, games and reflection on the purpose of our trip and the lives we were about to touch.

Dinner in the Dominican Republic:

Upon arrival, we were greeted by warm smiles and open arms from Franklin Peña, a local missionary, who will be our guide throughout our time here. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Wendy’s, with fellowship and laughter shared around the table, and continued on our way.

"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in (Matthew 25:35, NIV). This passage reminds us not only of the blessing of God’s provision for us in dinner, but also of the purpose of our mission trip - to extend God's love and compassion to those in need.

Conclusion:

The first day of a Christian school missions trip holds a special place in our hearts. It sets the tone for the journey ahead, igniting our passion for service and strengthening our faith. As we reflect on the safe plane travel, the heartwarming dinner in the Dominican Republic, and the smooth bus ride, we are reminded of the power of unity, fellowship, and the call to love and serve others. We eagerly anticipate the days to come, knowing that God's hand is guiding our every step.

So let us embark on this journey with hearts open, ready to embrace the challenges and blessings that lie ahead. Together, let us make a lasting impact, one life at a time.
