Today's blog post brought to you by Gerald and Patricia Vandervalk
Today our devotional talked about patience. Probably relevant because today was hot and humid which made for a tiring day. As well, we aren’t all healthy so please pray for us! We had the privilege of visiting a school in Mzululwa. The significance of that is that our son, Ryan was there 2 years ago with a different EduDeo team. Their team renovated and did some painting of the classrooms. So special!! It was fun to see that they were still using the spaces. After presenting 2 soccer balls we returned to Lundazi for lunch.
Despite the heat, we decided to go to Chimoza where we worked for the afternoon. Kenneth, the skilled foreman who EduDeo hired, the team prepared and poured the concrete headers.
The whole team also worked on building up one of the walls. We marvelled at the bricklayers and tried to keep up with mixing mortar, handing up the bricks, troweling, and getting in the way of the workers…
I also had the privilege of interacting with the women who were sitting in the shade of a giant tree. They had left home while it was dark to arrive at the school by 8am. Their district was having elections today and the villagers were all there. Thankfully 2 of the ladies spoke English and they asked me a lot of questions. A normal mom conversation…Their biggest concern was the famine they were in the midst of.
