As the day broke on the fifth day of our mission, we gathered once more for a delicious breakfast and our daily devotions. Today’s devotional was centered on Exodus 19:5, which emphasized the importance of obedience. It was a powerful reminder of our commitment to serve with humility and diligence. With hearts uplifted and spirits fortified, we prepared ourselves for another day of labor and fellowship.
On our way!
We journeyed back to Chimoza village, where the enthusiastic greetings of the children filled the air again. Upon arrival, we were thrilled to see that the local construction team had been hard at work since 4 am pouring the remaining footings for the classroom. As we set up and joined in, the blend of work and play with the children created an atmosphere of communal effort and shared purpose.
We worked hard throughout the morning making significant gains, and after a quick lunch were back at mixing mortar and laying bricks with the local workforce!
In the afternoon, we departed a bit earlier than usual to visit another school where EduDeo had been making significant strides. Some team members reminisced about their visit to this school nine years ago, marveling at the progress and the enduring impact of their previous work. It was a great moment of reflection and inspiration, witnessing firsthand the fruits of long-term commitment and the transformative power of education. We handed a couple of soccer balls over for the kids to play with and they received them with plenty of enthusiasm!
We made our way back to the CCAP compound and made a quick trip in to the market to purchase SIM cards, ensuring our connectivity during the rolling blackouts. We also indulged in a bit of fun, buying bananas, local honey, getting a haircut and chuckling over fake Rolexes.
The day concluded with an in-depth discussion on Colossians 1:15-20, where we delved into the profound truths of Christ’s supremacy. Over tea and coffee, we shared our thoughts and experiences, reveling in the richness of God’s blessings. This trip has been an incredible journey of faith, service, and deepening our understanding of His word. Truly, it is a privilege to be His hands and feet, and to grow closer to Him each day.
