Day 13..our last day at Mwase

This was our last day at Mwase. The roads were a bit drier and the bus was fuller. We had a number of teachers with us who were attending the 3 day TFT workshop at Mwase Secondary school. We were able to help parging 2 classrooms on the inside. We have great respect for the local construction people with whom we've been working beside. They are a lot of fun and a big help.

The children always help fill in the gaps around lunch or any other bit of free time we have.

We had the farewell ceremony this afternoon. It was filled with local music and dance and a whole lot of laughter! Most of the team were able to get up and show some of our Canadian moves.  Hopefully you understand what that means. The local PTA gave us some gifts for our service, including 2 chickens, a walking stick for Fred and a traditional stick for me to keep the team in line. Could have used that 10 days ago!!! We were serenaded by Ellen and her daughter. She has an amazing voice.

All in all we had a terrific time, we've worked side by side, played the same way and experienced a lot of what local Zambians live with each day: the rough roads, lack of power and water were challenging but good for us. It helps us to understand how others live each day. We give thanks for it all. May God continue to Bless the people of Zambia and the children at the Mwase school.

Next stop is the South Luangwa National Park. The team is looking forward to this experience.

Hope 4
