First team blog

In the summer of 2012, one of our youth leaders at our church approached me about taking a group of young people on a HANDS Team trip. However she felt daunted by the cost and felt that the money needed would be an obstacle. My response simply was this. Don’t worry about the money. We will fund raise what we need with the help of former HANDS team members and our support church and community. It is now 9 months later and we have the funds needed to do this trip. Praise God!

Just this past Sunday evening we actually had everyone together for our first “real meeting”. It was great to be together and discuss our adventure. 6  members of the team  will be under 18 years of age. Those 6 have never been on an airplane. That should be interesting for them and the rest of us.

We are happy to have EduDeo staff member, Alice Plug-Buist,  along for the ride as well. Alice will travel with us and spend some time with the team. The rest of her time in Nicaragua will be spent with others on behalf of EduDeo. Welcome Alice.

More about our preperations later. Stay tuned!
