The End. Emma-style.

Awoken at 6:31 at the crack of dawn for the last eventful day in Nicaragua. This morning everyone was so exhausted and could barely wake up. Breakfast started out so quiet; and then Teresa screams... Jason put what looked like the BIGGEST slug ever on Teresa's plate at breakfast. I'm not surprised he waited til the last day to pull a prank on her!

We went to the work site to finish our work on the addition to the school's auditorium. Teresa and the boys mixed concrete all day sweating in the blazing sun; I feel like Teresa needs some recognition for all the hard work she did too. (I must say she probably worked a lot harder than the guys; way to go Teresa!) ...However, my talents and gifts are not in that field. :) Instead, playing and interacting with the kids today was on my agenda! We played on the teeter-totters, we got tickled by 30 kids to the ground nearly dying of laughter, and we hung out teaching them hand clapping games. The kids are honestly so cute, and me and Jess always have an amazing time with them. I love that even though we have the language barrier we still find ways to have fun with each other and communicate in the most interesting ways. I find we see God in them the most because of the love they show us.

After lunch all the kids from the school gathered and we did the hand clapping skit for them...they were pretty impressed; obviously! Then they took the stage - the grade 6 girls did a dance to Christian music, the grade 3 kids did a funny drama and then two girls did a native dance in cool Nicaraguan dresses. After a really touching gift exchange, a heartfelt speech and prayer from the principal, it was time to say our goodbyes to all of our new friends (this was harder for some than others...Jon!) It was really sad to say goodbye to all the kids; tons of hugs, kisses and even some tears were shed. The ride in the van after that was so quiet, we all couldn't believe that this was actually the end of those relationships. But we all touched each others lives and most importantly we showed each other the love of Christ, which is the reason we are here.

The rest of the afternoon was spent at a market where we all got our fill on souvenirs for what is an extremely memorable trip. We got back to the Nehemiah Centre to debrief about our trip and our experiences with Edu-Deo. We are all truly blessed to have the opportunity to be here and I'm so thankful that I got to have these amazing experiences with some truly amazing people, being the hands and feet of Jesus!!
