Entry 3

Today was our first full day of work. This morning we got to meet the chief of the chiefdom the school is in. He was very curious about Canada and how our government works. He asked each one of us our age and marital status along with our cooking abilities. After our visit we had breakfast at the school, made by our lovely cook Dorthy. Our work day started very warm and included brick laying, chalkboard and parge removal. While cleaning up around the school we came across an interesting creature. In the excitement of the moment Joey wanted to investigate the creature but plans changed in a hurry when it flared and someone yelled “it’s poisonous! It spits!” Needless to say the snake was disposed of quickly. Glad no one was harmed! That was one of many interesting creatures we saw today. We have seen small lizards, frogs, a centipede, and a large snail shell. As we were all busy working we saw a bird, no a plane, no wait it was Justin flying off the scaffolding. According to Jenn it was all good because he was smiling mid flight! While straightening metal rods Jerry decided to challenge Claudia to a tug of war, guess who won!? The temperature soon changed at the end of a hard working day. After two weeks of no rain, the rains finally came as we tried to finish pouring the last ring beam of the day. Needless to say we have never seen rains like that! But much needed for the crops. Thankful for a day that everyone was safe and made it back to the guesthouse after the down pour.

Please pray for safe travels tomorrow as we visit past projects
