Entry 6

Saturday Feb. 24

This morning we awoke to a bit of a drizzle, no more of the torrential downpour of the night before. We drove to the school for breakfast, with numerous stops along the way to clean the windshield since the wipers are not working. After breakfast we got to work. Some people helped lay bricks while others smashed broken bricks in the classrooms. This will serve as the base for the floors. There where also some opportunity to interact with local children, although there were far fewer children around as they did not have school today.

Lunch was another delicious meal prepared by Dorothy. After lunch we headed back to the guest house to shower up. We then went to a local church to combine our Bible study with their youth group. We were greeted by quite a few more than just the youth, as numerous men and women from the congregation showed up as well. Darrel said later he felt like a deer in the headlights as he had never expected to be leading that large a group topped off with having an interpreter. The study was on the book of Daniel and we had some very good discussion. After roughly an hour and a half, we ended with a greeting line (meaning a line was formed so that everyone shook everyone else’s hand).

Back at the guesthouse we had supper after which we had another Bible study with just the hands team. The last thing we did before this writing was practise the songs we hope to sing in church tomorrow.

As an afterthought, the clouds this morning were much welcomed relief for the bright red skin of many on the team, they however gave way to bright sun by mid morning. It has been an other warm sunny beautiful day here in Zambia!
