“We Are His Hands": Teachers in Uganda’s Classrooms

"These children are our hopes... We need to promote Godly values because it is these students who are going to influence our communities. Tomorrow we will not be there. So, they're the ones who are going to change. Who knows? You're raising a president. Who knows? You're raising a doctor... You can give education that touches the intellectual faculty, but godliness touches the heart... So, it’s more than just giving them education, we want to give them Christ. So, we are His hands."

This reflection comes from a teacher at the Donela Orange Primary school (Bombo Campus) who participated in EduDeo’s most recent Walking Together trainings in Uganda. The Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) in Uganda is one of EduDeo’s newer partners.  One of the first investments we make with a partner is teacher training as investment in leaders is a proven development strategy.

For many Christian educators like those at the Donela School in Uganda, the desire to share God's love has always been there, but the practical tools were missing. Before the Walking Together workshops, teachers noted that biblical integration stopped at the lesson plan book. But by simplifying how faith fits naturally into the daily curriculum, the training has radically shifted classroom culture and lightened the burden on teachers.

In reflecting on the impact Walking Together training has had on them, teachers have noted that the training helped them view their work through the lens of ministry rather than just a paycheck.  And teachers have noticed that students feel this shift.  Learnings from the training has helped them equip children to view themselves as "earth keepers" and "community builders" who proactively care for one another and their environment.

Another teacher beautifully summarized the impact of the training that supporters like you have funded:

"As teachers, it is easing our work as the staff. It's easier or more peaceful... Those days when you're coming out of the lesson, you feel like you're exhausted because of the student behaviour. But right now, if you get out of the lesson, you feel like it is not enough. You feel like you need more. Because we are not just teaching them, but we are doing more of ministering to them... we feel like every time we need to be with the learners".

By equipping these passionate local leaders through a multi-year Trainer-of-Trainers model, your gifts are creating an exponential ripple effect. Trained leaders return to their regions to equip others, ensuring that thousands of Ugandan children are raised with a biblical worldview capable of transforming a nation.
