In March 2025, students from Quinte Christian High School (Belleville, ON) stepped into a new chapter of their faith journey by joining a Co-Impact team. Their destination? Managua, Nicaragua, where they partnered with the Kenneth Hanna School to bring colour, hope, and connection to classrooms.
For Meghan Kuipers, one of the students on the team, the experience was transformative:
“My experience in Nicaragua is one I will never forget. The week-long experience allowed me to be immersed in a culture I had never been in, see sights I had not seen, meet amazing people, create relationships with other students, and see God’s amazing creation.”
The team spent the week painting classrooms and working alongside local students who helped. What began as a service project quickly became something deeper, a shared experience of joy and faith across cultures.
“My favourite part was meeting the students at the Kenneth Hanna School. They were so excited to see us—the energy was overwhelming! Even though their lifestyle, language, and traditions are different, we found joy in everything we did together. The biggest thing I learned was that laughter is a language we all understand.”
The impact wasn’t one-sided. As Quinte students worked hard to brighten classrooms, Nicaraguan students joined in, making the project a true collaboration. Teachers and students expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“I am very happy to see my classroom looking so different and pretty. I couldn’t believe that they did all this work for us, so that we feel more comfortable and help us to learn better.”
— 4th Grade Student
“The school looks very good now! It was of great help and a blessing to have help from Quinte school. They worked very hard, and it was also very good that our students participated in this project, which makes it more meaningful. We are so thankful for this opportunity to work together for the same purpose and thanks to God that our school was so blessed with this project.”
— Maria Romero, School Principal
For Meghan, stepping into unfamiliar situations such as line dancing, sharing her testimony, teaching crafts, and navigating language barriers was life-changing:
“Serving in Nicaragua allowed me to see what I truly loved doing, and to put the gifts that God has given me into action to do His work.”
This is one of the reasons we love Co-Impact teams here at EduDeo: mutual transformation. When we serve, we don’t just give, we receive. We learn. We grow. And we discover that God’s love knows no borders.
