Day 1 + Travel

After 21 long hours of waiting, and sleeping on airport floors, the Nicaragua team finally made it to their destination, Nicaragua, Managua. The lush green trees and vibrant colours of the flowers mesmerize us. In all honesty, it is hot, humid, and ain't like Canada, that's for sure. There was definitely some culture shock for sure, as we saw people running between traffic, cleaning windshields for money at red lights, making it all quite different from what we're used to. There were houses made of rusting tin, and others made of stone, reaching stories high. As we wandered around downtown Managua, we saw the astounding cathedral, which still stands even after the earthquake, which compromised its integrity and strength. We saw a museum of different presidents' houses and the national palace. The architecture in Managua is absolutely phenomenal. It is mesmerizing, eye-catching, and quite unique. The contrast between the metal structures and the vines growing upwards and wrapping around the man-made sculpture made the experience quite unique and beautiful. They even had big metal sculptures of fake trees, all vibrant and neon, and they even lit up! Coming to Nicaragua has already been so fulfilling, as we have experienced so many new things already, and we cannot wait to explore more of God's creation and learn more about the people He created.
