We had decided yesterday to take Friday off instead of Saturday so that the locals at the school site could get ahead so that we could continue to follow behind them so as not to slow up the project. So at 7 AM this morning we boarded the van and headed up the highway to just west of the the town of La Vega to the Jaracabacoa ranch for some white water rafting in the 'Jacqueline of the North' river. We travelled 13 km down the river, shooting the rapids and seeing the beauty of the landscape. Many of us got soaking wet but the weather was warm and the sun was out to dry us off quickly. Some of us stayed at the ranch and enjoyed fishing and seeing some of the agriculture and meeting different people. On the way home we noticed again that although the people have few resources they are all occupied with their work and look active and happy. Many live in poor circumstances and need our help and assistance. God bless the Dominican Republic as they try to provide education to the countless children in their communities across this beautiful country. P.S. Grace is healing well!
