Final Planning meeting

The Team held its final planning meeting last night and we are thankful to report all is ready.  We are eager to be underway and will depart Calgary early Jan 18, hoping to arrive safely in the D.R. late that night.  Please pray God's hand over the trip.

As we are a mix of new and experienced HANDS workers there is much anticipation and excitement in the group, and the predictable bit of anxiety.  That too is healthy as it turns us to God for His help and strength.

Reflecting on the trip has put me back into the reality of why we go - first of all to be the hands and feet of Jesus - but also to observe in truth the things we'll see, hear and experience. While the joy and hope of our friends in the D.R. is a tremendous blessing we will also observe inequity and a lack of justice as God commands it. I believe He calls us to be mindful of these things and to search out His will for how we are to respond.  Pray with us for justice...

The Lord willing our next communication will be from the D.R. - we thank God for all who have made this trip possible, may He bless you all.
