Getting started for a trip like this is a bit of work, we have come to realize. Lots of organization is needed in order to get things going, that's for sure!
Our team has already been involved in running quite a few fundraisers, such as soup days conveniently held at our high school; we've had an apple pie bake which was quite a big success! Along with those, we hosted an indoor soccer tournament which was an enjoyable night amoung the young people of our community. We are currently running a scrap metal drive which we hope to gain some funds from!
Raising the funds for our trip has been a lot of work, but we know that this will all be worth it in the end. The opportunity of serving the people of the Dominican Republic will be a much rewarding experience, and that is what keeps us going! We trust that God will be right with us in these preparation months, and help us along. Thanks be to Him!
