Hola!
Leaving by 7am this morning, we set out to to explore a bit more of the DR on our day off! The day began with a 2 1/2 hour ride up to the mountains, to Rancho Baiguate, and the views along the way were surreal and breathtaking. At the Ranch, we all had the option to either horseback ride or go white-water rafting.
Horseback riding through the mountains was an overall amazing expierence! The view of the waterfall we visited was incredible and the mountains had a rainforest feel to them. The horseback riding itself was pretty crazy, as our horses would start galloping at any given moment, with our 'compadres' riding bareback behind us and urging them to go faster. We survived with only a few bruised peros :)
The white water rafting was down the waters of Yaque del Morte river. The water was about a foot lower than usual so we were lucky because there were more rock obstacles to paddle around. The trip went well with no flipped boats and only a few passengers were tossed over-board in the rapids. In all seriousness no one was injured and no more than a few scratches remained. All of us had an incredibly fun time.
Afterwards, a few of us went fishing and together we caught about a dozen, only one of them large (congrats Stef!)
All in all, an incredible experience! Thanks be to the Lord who kept us in His care and continues to do so.
Ps. 125:2 "As the mountains surround Jerusalem so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forevermore."
