For many students, school is more than just a classroom; it’s a safe environment where they grow in knowledge, faith, and character.
But for many Dominico-Haitian children, education can be out of reach.
Though their families came to the Dominican Republic from Haiti seeking work and a better life, challenges like overcrowded schools, discrimination, material poverty, language barriers, and lack of government support often prevent them from accessing education.
Yet every child deserves the chance to go to school. That’s where the vision of a lakou comes in.
In Dominico-Haitian culture, a lakou is more than a courtyard. It’s a place of connection, community, and hope. A space where neighbours and families come together to share life.
We need your help to create a new lakou: classrooms where children can learn, belong, and flourish.
Our goal is to raise $75,000 to provide Dominico-Haitian students with access to quality, Christ-centred education, school supplies, healthy lunches, and basic healthcare.
So, will you join us? By being part of the Lakou Campaign, your students will take meaningful action that brings real change - opening doors to education and reflecting Christ’s love by restoring dignity and hope to vulnerable children in the Dominican Republic.
