Day 4 - by Ashley

Today was another long morning of pouring and mixing cement. We started working at 8 again, by then it was already super warm. We joked about praying for clouds, and we were thankful that God gave us some cloud cover throughout our work. The kids have caught onto our names and will wave to us through the windows while saying our names, even if they are in class. We were able to play tag with some of the kids during their recess; they always have lots of energy! They love to play this one game that is kind of like tag but everyone is it and instead of tagging each other you tickle the other person.

After we finished mixing and pouring 6 bags of cement, we were able to have lunch and 1/12 hour power shower before embarking on an adventure. We all piled into our 15 seat van (which is so warm you can taste the sweat in the air) and drove to the nearby high school. After visiting some classrooms we talked with the principal who had some interesting stories for us to hear. After visiting the high school, we visited another elementary school a little further on. The kids there were so excited to see us; they came to the classroom doors and waved at us as we went down the hallway. The grade 1 and 2 classes even sang a song to us that they had been practicing. They were let out for afternoon recess and we were able to meet them and play tag (Which they call ‘catch catch’) and soccer with them. They were quite fascinated with the cameras we had, one of the little boys even took a group photo for us, and it turned out pretty amazing. After we said our goodbyes we hopped into the van once again and drove to the sea. We were able to spend a long time in the beautiful ocean, it was the perfect temperature, and felt wonderful. Once we came back to where we are staying we had a lovely dinner and are just resting after our long day.
