Favorite Things!

Hey everyone!! It's your favorite two members of the Nicaragua Team that are definitely already your favorite even though you perhaps haven't met us yet, Geneva and Sadie!

Today was a pretty wacky and amazing and super fun day! There were so many things that were so good that some people didn't even have crappies in our daily happy crappy wacky this evening. So we've decided to divide all the super duper fun things that happened today into a list of our new favorite things.

Favorite thing #1! This morning, we had pancakes for breakfast! It was a nice taste of home, but still with a tasty side of gallo pinto.

Favorite thing #2! We had a 2.5 hour ride on a hot sweaty bus without air conditioning. You may be thinking, are these (my favorite members of the Nicaragua team) people sure they know what their favorite thing is? Yes, it was actually awesome because we got to form some deep connections with the Nicaraguan students on the way there, with the help of our good friend google translate.

Favorite thing #3! We arrived in Leon at the water park and all received fashionable orange wristbands that let us into the hallowed grounds of the water park.

Favorite thing #4! Everyone tested out the slides. You may be thinking that testing them means one person at a time. But not for these slides. We tested them out with a seven person train of people going down at once! (this was fun for EVERYONE, and the person in the front definitely didn't get squished by everyone else once we entered the water) This was exceptionally entertaining, until we were shut down by the water park staff. Very sad.

Favorite thing #5! All the students engaged in a rousing game of Hotel, Guest, Earthquake! (in the pool, obviously.) This was very exciting, especially when Koen pushed everyone else out of the way so that he could get the spot he wanted. There are ABSOLUTELY NO hard feelings left towards Koen after this experience. (for those who did not catch the sarcasm, there are definitely hard feelings. But it's ok, we'll make it up by taking more pictures of him while he sleeps. See Favorite thing #11!)

Favorite thing #6! We played several fun games of chicken fights. This led to several sore necks, but lots of bonding between us students.

Favorite thing #7! We had a very tasty lunch of sandwiches made by Nilda's mother. Scrum! We also got to experience coke in a bag (or for some, fresca in a bag)! We also had some very yummy drinkable yogurt. If you ever get the chance, try some apple flavored yogurt. It was truly delicious.

Favorite thing #8! We were served some fresh watermelon that was even more scrum by our own dear Chef Gary. (purchased on the side of the road on our drive to the water park) He walked around in the pool handing it out.

Favorite thing #9! There was a very nice waterfall from which several students had an enjoyable time jumping into the pool trying to see who could jump the farthest!

Favorite thing #10! Our time at the water park ended with a high as we made a very cinematic video of many students falling into the pool. Although we could not post it here for your viewing pleasure, it is available on the ACS Instagram in the Nicaragua highlights!

Favorite thing #11! The bus ride home was a hoot as there were lively games of charades, pitting the left side of the bus against the right. The left side won. That was my side! (Sadie). Next, an interesting game of mafia ensued where no one suspected me (Sadie) even though I was, in fact, a mafia. Just a testament to my sneakiness. Also, Koen fell asleep again. See photos.

Favorite thing #12! We arrived back at the Nehemiah center and after a brief rest were greeted by the lovely Holtrop family as they joined us for dinner. For dinner we had an incredibly delicious meal of cheesy mashed potatoes, corn rice, barbecued chicken, jalapeño pepper sauce, fresh salad, and freshly made plantain chips! Extra scrum! Also, Owner Founder BossMan Rylan hired the Holtrops to The Company. (more on that later)

Favorite thing #13! After dinner, we had a truly interesting presentation on the history of Nicaragua given to us by the one and only Steve Holtrop himself. Thanks, Steve!

Favorite thing #14! We had a bonding team meeting in which we shared our aforementioned happy crappy wacky's and learned about our exciting day tomorrow. Tune back in then for another super duper blog post!

I hope you have been educated on how many favorite things we got to do today. We are having a great time in Nicaragua bonding with Centro de Fe students and growing in our faith, and look forward to our final two coming days!

Signing off, your (now for sure) favorite two members of the Nicaragua team,

Sadie and Geneva
