Celebrating New Partnerships: PAG Uganda

Celebrating New Partnerships: PAG Uganda

By

In May 2022, EduDeo added two new partnerships to our work! Join us as we get to know Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG) Uganda and their passion for Christ-centred education.

COUNTRY:

Uganda is located in Eastern Africa, bordering Kenya and Rwanda. It has a population of 48 million, with over 60% of the population being school-aged children, and over 80% of the population below the age of 35.

PARTNER:

PAG operates throughout Uganda, with headquarters in the capital city of Kampala. Throughout the country, they serve a total of 15,840 learners across 102 schools, including three post-secondary technical schools and 1 post-secondary theological school.

HISTORY:

After two years of virtual conversations, EduDeo staff visited Uganda in April 2022. There, they met with 60 head bishops and educators to explore partnership possibilities with PAG Uganda.

They heard from PAG about their church and leadership, their approach to partnership, accountability structures, and vision and goals for PAG schools.

They visited with leaders, teachers, and schools, and saw strong evidence of PAG schools’ commitment to Christ-centred education and community transformation.

To learn more about PAG, our team facilitated a conversation to learn about their schools’ strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats to growth. They also got to share about EduDeo’s vision for Christ-centred education and the Walking Together program. Following partnership discussions, the team was able to hold a mini-workshop for leaders on Christ-centred pedagogy and Biblical worldview in education.

In May, EduDeo's board officially voted to add PAG Uganda as a partner!

Here are three reasons we're excited about this new partnership:

  1. EduDeo’s vision for Christ-centred education gives language and structure to a direction PAG is already moving in. Their leadership has a strong understanding of Christ-centred education that aligns well with EduDeo.

  1. PAG church leadership is highly engaged with their local community. They have a passion for holistic ministry and aim to transform their communities not only by sharing the Gospel, but also by caring for practical needs like education and healthcare.

  1. PAG has deep ties with the evangelical church community in Uganda, as well as with other international partners, such as World Renew, Compassion International, and TearFund.

We are grateful to God for His guiding hand in this process of establishing new partnerships. Join us in giving thanks for PAG Uganda and their important work in Uganda communities!
