Today's theme was "Showers of blessings"
Breakfast was early because the bus picked us up at 8 o'clock. Nathaniel was our driver and he brought his family with him so that they could spend the day in town. At the boat dock, we met with our tour guide who took us up the river to Lamanai where there is an historic site of the ruins of buildings built by the Mayans. Of interest is the fact that the site was excavated by a Dr Prendergrast working on the project for the Royal Ontario Museum. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history and the stories of the buildings. We got to climb up some of the steps but they are very steep (with no hand rails) and the paths led through the rain forest. Lunch was provided and we took the boat back down the river.
Another warm evening. There was a band playing in one of the parks in town. They were playing old time rock but the volume far outstripped the talent so we went back to the hotel.
We encountered a bit of rain in the afternnon but our shower of blessings included great food, beautiful weather, safe travelling and friendly encounters.
