About INGH:

International Needs Ghana (INGH) is a Christian development organization which began operations in Ghana in 1984 and was officially registered as a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization in 1987. They are committed to seeing transformed lives and changed communities through partnerships guided by God’s love and a commitment to holistic development. They seek to achieve this through our integrated thematic approach in promoting community development, with a focus on child rights, education, health, gender and empowerment, and Christian witness.

Our Shared Ministry

TEACHER TRAINING

Teachers are at the heart of education, so we always invest in them. Together, we provide workshops for teachers in areas such as curriculum development, incorporating the Gospel into specific subjects, Teaching for Transformation framework, and more.

LEADERSHIP SUPPORT

Change starts at the top, so we also work together to support leaders. Mentoring and coaching, strengthening a vision for Christ-centred education, and funds for continuing education all equip INGH leaders to model Christ and be the strong guides their schools need.

STUDENT SUPPORT

Christ-centred education at INGH schools should be accessible for all children and families, no matter their situation. Supports like tuition bursaries and trades training programs provide students with a holistic yet always accessible education.

More About Ghana

  • LANGUAGE: English is the primary language of instruction.
  • POPULATION: 30.42 million
  • SCHOOLS: In public schools, the government provides teachers and pays their salaries; private schools are responsible for hiring and paying teachers themselves.
    • At the primary level (up to grade 9), the private education sector dominates. The Ministry of Education covers most public-school costs, but there are some fees.
    • At the secondary level (grades 10-12), the public sector is dominant, and private sector participation is very limited. This is due to a policy that makes public senior high schools free (private schools are not covered).
    • Churches still have a strong influence on education, especially in mission schools, though these are technically public.
