Belize: PCSB

Presbyterian Church Schools of Belize (PCSB)

Region: Central America (Belize)
Partner Since: 2011

Mission:

Guiding, preparing and motivating students through Christ-centred education to positively impact our communities and the world we serve.

About PCSB:

Since 1987, PCSB has established schools across Belize in conjunction with the Presbyterian Church. Through Christ-centred education, PCSB helps students think Biblically about all of life and become good stewards of God’s creation. Ultimately, they want students to grasp God’s grace in a deep and personal way, compelling them to serve others and bring the reconciliation of Christ into all of life.

Our Shared Ministry

TEACHER TRAINING

Teachers are at the heart of education, so we always invest in them. Together, we provide workshops and mentoring for teachers & leaders in areas such as restorative practices, strategic planning, Teaching for Transformation framework, continuing education, and much more.

SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION

We partner to create vibrant, thriving spaces at PCSB schools. Projects like building new classrooms and bathrooms, and providing fencing and playgrounds ensure schools continue to have the safe, sufficient space they need to be beacons of hope in their communities.

STUDENT SUPPORT

Christ-centred education at PCSB schools should be accessible for all children and families, no matter their situation. Supports like tuition bursaries and technology in the classroom provide kids with a holistic yet always accessible education.

"How can I even begin to express what the Lord has done? When we started this school year, I struggled with the overwhelming sensation that I would not be able to make it in my own strength. God showed me during these past months that it is not me. I threw myself at His feet leaving everything in His hands and trusting that He will carry me through. He did! He sustained me and taught me so many things during these unprecedented times. What I thought I could not do, He showed me how to do it. My desire is to bring Glory to His name for He is worthy of all praise. Now I can look back and say, 'I can do all things through God who strengthens me.'"

– Vanessa, teacher, Belize

"More and more, we can see God’s providence as He provides for the educational needs of our school communities. With the STEM support through EduDeo Ministries, a training on technology from a Christian perspective was done. This helped to redirect and reaffirm our teachers' understanding and use of technology for instruction. Since schooling is through distance learning, this training helped address some of our teachers’ fears about technology. The training broadened their appreciation of what technology is."

– Alvaro, leader, Belize

"Ever since I can recall there have been Americans and Canadians that come visit our school. Every year, they brighten my days. Their passion in helping through the projects they do in our school and what they bring for all of us – this has amazed me."

– Lindsey, student, Belize
