About this Project

EduDeo Ministries is participating with the Abundant Leadership Institute of the Wellspring Foundation for Education in Kigali, Rwanda.  The Abundant Leadership Institute (ALI) works to see education in Central Africa transformed by the love of Christ as passionate leaders with vision are equipped to transform their school communities.

After a decade of empowering teachers towards quality education, Wellspring Foundation for Education faced a pressing reality: a felt need in the area of educational leadership. The Abundant Leadership Institute was launched in August 2016 to meet this need for leadership development for educational leaders.

The institute offers a Christ-centred and action-oriented approach to leadership development in a sector where there is currently little practical support for promising leaders.  ALI draws from previous experience in leadership development and utilizes knowledge and resources from other successful programs and a global network of leadership experts.

EduDeo Ministries provides leaders for the Biblical Worldview and Values component of the Institute. This module demonstrated how Biblical principles and values lead to transformative teaching and learning that: builds a Christ-centered learning community, engages in transformative pedagogy, uncovers dynamic curriculum, and assesses to nurture growth.

Participants: 14 members of the 2016-17 Abundant Leadership Institute participated in this module. These represented a wide range of positions in schools and organizations: Principals, Headmasters, Program Managers, Executive Secretary, ACSI East Africa Region Director; Academic Director, Deputy Headmaster, Directors, Senior Managers.

The presenter was Robert Koole (EduDeo Learning Leader), together with Phocas Ngendahayo (Abundant Leadership Institute (ALI) Director).

Participant feedback indicated the presentations and activities were engaging, stimulated thinking, raised new questions, and suggested missing elements to include next time.

The interactive approach involved all participants and provided avenues for them to connect their learning with their own educational and organizational situations and settings.

Participant quotes:

"Learning about building a Christ-centered learning community was compelling because introducing Christ in all lessons will make a change in all lives of community."

"Assessing to nurture growth was an important thing to learn - it links well with the restorative work we are called to do as educators."

"This course woke up me in my style of leadership not only in school but also in my family."

We continue to pray for the work that the Abundant Leadership Insitute does throughout the year, and for strengthening of partnership.
