Laying a Firm Foundation

Christian Education in Haiti: A Restorative Approach

This blog was written by Learning Leader Alice Vanderkooy who is working alongside co-leader Diane Stronks with Haitian educators and leaders as part of the Christian Education in Haiti: A Restorative Approach Walking Together project.

Monday was full and rich. Diane, with the help of  Benjamin, our translator, and co-leader, and  Alice, laid the foundation, focusing on respectful and fair practices that promote positive change and stronger relationships. It soon became evident that these practices are useful, not just in schools and in churches, but also in our personal relationships, wherever we are placed. The 25 participants (principals, pastors, young leaders in training, older, more skeptical types, a judge, a university professor), all engaged fully in the dialogues and activities. We were deeply appreciative of the enormous efforts of CRECH to make this a positive experience for both learners and trainers. We look forward to what tomorrow brings, and are grateful to the Lord for this opportunity.
