"Fun"draising and Preparations

Five months – actually just a hair under that.  Five months before we leave on our HANDS Trip to Belize.  For some the time is going much to slow – they just want to “get there”.

For others the time is going quickly and there’s so much to do!  Either way, we are preparing and letting God ready our hearts for the upcoming trip.

We’ve had a few meetings and at our last we were encouraged by our spiritual leaders.  We learned about Moses.  Moses answered God’s call to lead and go but not without protests and excuses first.  In the end, God asked Moses what was in his hand.  Moses was holding a simple shepherd’s staff – what he had been using for many years.  It was familiar to him.  God then showed what could be done with asimple staff when He is behind it.  A simple staff led the people out of slavery, it separated the deep waters of the Red Sea, it brought forth fresh water to drink in the desert.  God asks each of us what is in our hands….what do we have in our hands that can be used by God to bless others and glorify Him.

At this time we are also working hard on fundraising.  Fundraising is a hard but necessary part of being on a HANDS Team.  We have learned through the years to trust and obey.  We are asked to be obedient in doing what is necessary…organize, plan and work.  In it all we pray that God would indeed provide and we trust Him fully that He will soften hearts and provide exactly what we need to go on this trip to Belize.  And so we pray that you too will help us out, in whatever way you are able.  Below are several events that you can
participate in and help us raise the money we need.

  • Harvest Dinner – a dinner will be held on Friday, October 12 in the Fenwick Fire hall @ 6pm.  There will be a full course buffet dinner, a video presentation by Tim Bootsma explaining HANDS Teams, entertainment by Hugh Cook, a humourous ‘reader’ who takes ordinary circumstances and leaves you laughing, and we will be led in worship by a praise team from Bethany CRC.  Tickets are $15 to cover costs of the dinner, a free will offering will be held during the evening to raise the funds needed to meet our goal.  Please email Lloyd or
Anita Wierenga at lloydwierenga@hotmail.com for tickets or more information

  • Tradeshow – a tradeshow with over twenty-five vendors will be held on October 27 – also at the Fenwick Fire hall – from 9am-2pm.  Everything from Pampered Chef to Tupperware, from Massage Therapy to Custom Christmas Arrangements will be there. And so much more…..silent auction items, coffee and baked goods.  Come and start your Christmas shopping early all the while supporting an amazing cause.

  • Cottage Raffle – a cottage has been donated for use during the week of July 6-13, 2013 and for a weekend in the fall – to be arranged with owners.  Raffle tickets are
available from any team member for $20 or 3/$50 for the weeks stay OR $10 each
for the weekend.  For more information about the cottage emai wvahrmeyer@gmail.com

It is our prayer that you will be able to contribute and participate at one of these events.  If
you are not able, please consider donation online at our teams profile page https://edudeo.com/hands/fenwick/or sending a cheque directly to EduDeo, earmarking it for “Fenwick HANDS”.  Thank you so much for all your encouragements
and support.
