Day 4-----Footings in---Yeah team!!!

To work we did go….today the footings were poured…with 4 yards of cement.  This involved loading sand, gravel, cement, and water by bucket into the portable mixer, and hauling the cement by wheelbarrow to the different holes.  Hot, heavy work!

We also painted purlins…and tied more rebar!....We are working!  Peter commented, “It’s a good thing there was a stage to remove, or we may have run out of work for you to do!”

Today really saw our team connecting with the children of the school.  Noah’s Art Playschool lent us a parachute-we had a lot of fun singing and playing games with each class in the school.  They loved it!  Gord brought fireman stickers for each child in the school.  Rolanda made a game with English and Spanish phrases that kids lined up to play. The children enjoyed pictures Ger shared from home.  Sheila has been teaching and encouraging the students to pick up the wire tie fragments and placing them in the garbage. Art and Jeff played soccer with a group of students.  Harvey, Art and Jeff joined in on one class’ exercise class- it helped them practice their numbers in Spanish and keep in shape, of course. The children are feeling much more comfortable with us and are coming up to visit with everyone.

We are having a quiet evening at the Nehemiah Center- enjoyed a great supper of chicken lasagne, read and worked on our blog.  We are going to do some singing.  We are so fortunate to have John and his guitar.

Another great day!

PS: Bill has joined Harvey in the remedial “learning to count” class!
