Visiting the Local Villages

It’s Brandon here again. Another full day took place in mwase, Zambia

Kicked off the day back on site laying the brick.  Tons of locals on site. Almost too many. Many came to watch us do our work and some helped out. It has been a blessing to build these relationships with both the locals and the kids back at the guesthouse. They know our names and we are doing our best to learn all of theirs.

We broke early from site at three o’clock this afternoon to go visit some local villages and see how the people there live. We walked thru their homes and gardens, saw their pens for animals, and their shower huts and bathrooms. It’s clear to us that we are blessed materially and frankly don’t need a lot of what we have. Life can be lived using much simpler means. One of the things that the village was quite proud of and wanted to show us was their well. About 25 to 30 feet deep all brick and concrete. It took about a month to dig by hand. Something for us like water is so simple, but for these people it takes up so much of their life not just to dig it, but to gather water everyday and bring it to their homes.

Another interesting development was that Diana was given a chicken from our coordinators uncle. This chicken is now in our kitchen and is awaiting death which is penciled in for tomorrow at lunch.

We thank you for your prayers. Please continue to pray for health, safety and guidance as we continue helping out these people of mwase.

Your friend in the pen, Brandon Kamphuis
