It was an exciting and eventful weekend for the Girls on a Mission!
It all started this past Friday at Maranatha CRC, when two of our team members had a booth at the Craft Show at the church. Kara sold a variety of small plants while Tianna sold custom necklaces and key chains. They were very happy with how it went - both girls had a lot of fun!
At the same time, the other team members were working hard to raise the final funds needed for the trip. Poinsettias, Christmas cards, knitting, wreaths, and baking are all being sold by a number of other team members! Hildy and Leah Sloots are also having a big fundraiser coming up this weekend! They will be having a pancake breakfast and a bake and craft sale! We have not quite reached our goal as a team and would really appreciate continued support!
A couple days later, we had our Commissioning Service also at Maranatha CRC! After a wonderful sermon, Pastor Ben invited us to the front of the church where he commissioned our team. This was an awesome experience for us as team members to reflect on the focus and purpose of our trip. It was great to see some of the people who have been (and will continue) supporting us through prayer. Pastor Ben reminded us that we are going on this trip to bring glory to God as we will serve faithfully in the Dominican Republic.
Following the service, we ate lunch (delicious soup and buns!) as team members together with our families. Hildy and Leah were able to face time in from Ottawa so that they could be a part of the meeting as well which was great! Even though they were able to face time, we definitely missed having them there! We always love getting together as a team, and this one was especially fun having the families there too!
