Unexpected day off!

We had an unexpected day off!  We were sooooooo excited!  There was a funeral in the village of Mwasa, and all the workers would be attending.  So we started out the day going to a community school called  Kaponga Hills  .  It was fun showing up there and the kids came running out of the school to greet us!  It was interesting to hear their challenges about their 2km. walk to get water, and the lack of student materials.  But they are very happy with the building that they are now able to use instead of being outside under a tree.  We then started back to the guest house.  They say you haven’t really experienced Zambia if you haven’t had a break down.  So now we have had the “true” experience!  Our bus broke down.  We pulled over to the side of the road with a trail of oil behind us.  We got out of the bus as our hosts tried to get us some more oil.  To fill the time we started singing, and before you knew it we had people from a local village joining in on our fun.  After waiting 1.5 hours, we hadn’t been rescued yet, so we decided to jump start the bus and continue as far as we could go.  We made it back to the guest house on God’s good graces, and the bus was now and forever “kaput”!  We then went to the market again in the afternoon to do some shopping.

For dinner tonight we had a surprise!  We split up into 4 different groups and went to our friends from CCAP’s homes.  We all had a great time and enjoyed meeting their families and seeing what their homes looked like.
