Day 11

Wow, our last day in Nicaragua is coming to an end!

This morning we worked until about 10 AM. Then we were treated to a lovely, amazing service by the school! The principal, teachers, students, parents, pastor of the neighbouring church, and school board members were present. A teacher even went door to door to all the students' homes to get some students to come to the school today (as the red alert for earthquakes is still on and the children aren't attending school - they go back Monday though!).

The principal said some welcoming words and prayer. Scriptures were read by the pastor and a teacher, with some reflection. Teachers read poems and said words of gratitude to our team. the students sang "This Little Light of Mine" in Spanish, then even sang it in English as well! Then they each gave us a bag of candies and cookies. The school staff sang a worship song about thanksgiving too. It was such an honour to be a part of the service. Our team also sang a worship song, "God of this City." It is a song about how God is Lord over the city and Managua, and all nations. And that greater things are still in store for the city; God's not done his work in Nicaragua yet!

After the service, we had a Nicaraguan-style lunch made for us by the school. We were able to have fellowship with the service attendees, which was really great. We said goodbyes to the staff and to the other workers we worked with at the school this week, and headed back to the centre, stopping at the supermarket along the way to get some yummy cheesecake :)

We just finished up a game of basketball (even Lester played for a bit!). We are excited for our last dinner here in Managua. We are NOT excited to finish packing up all our stuff, and for leaving here at 4 AM tomorrow!! We return to Thunder Bay around 10:30 PM tomorrow.

We are hoping to do an information night for everyone back in Thunder Bay very soon. Watch the bulletins and facebook for more details!

We just wanted to thank you again so much for following us with this journey. It has been an amazing experience and we have all learned so much, all of which we hope to take home with us. This organization, Edudeo, was such a great organization to work with, and we truly feel satisfied with them and believe that through this once in a lifetime experience, our lives and our faith will be changed forever. Who knows, we may be blogging again in Nicaragua or elsewhere on this site in the future! But we couldn't have done this without all your support through funds and prayer. So THANK YOU!! We will never forget these past couple weeks, and the time spent preparing for them.

How good and pleasant it iswhen God’s people live together in unity! It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down on the collar of his robe. It is as if the dew of Hermonwere falling on Mount Zion. For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. Psalm 133, this was read at the service today.
