Day 5

Greetings from Nicaragua!

Today was another full work day, before our three days off. Today, the Vanderwees'  son Jesus joined us at work! He was fun to work with and actually helped us a lot!

In the morning, we all continued tying rebar cages. The girls had to teach the guys the technique! Once they were done,  we all worked together to mix the concrete to be poured into the holes for the foundation. It was pretty tough work! We were all super tired by the end of it. We rewarded ourselves with some ice cream afterwards.

Tessa has made a special new friend, named Pin. He's another worker on our crew. They had some special bonding moments today (see picture).

The kids are all off school next week due to the tremors yesterday. Apparently there were some more tremors last night but we didn't even feel them.

We just played some "heads up" (It's an iphone app game like charades) and are heading to bed shortly. Tomorrow we have a jam-packed day exploring the sights of Nicaragua! We did have some toilet issues today at the centre, but they seem to have taken care of themselves. Otherwise, we are having a great time!

Buenos noches!
