Day 7

Our journey in Belize is comming to a close. Even though we still have two more days here things seem to be ending. We finished fixing the preschool building today; the roof is complete, the windows have been fixed, and the interior has been cleaned. It has been a long process and we have learned much along the way but all things must come to an end.

There was a goodbye ceremony for us and the children as we have finished our work at the school and they are leaving for Easter break. We lead worship for the students and the older students preformed a choral arrangement. It ended with them giving all of us thank-you cards. It was amazing to see how much we had acctually helped them and how much they apreciated the work we did.

With all of the work finished by noon we spent the rest of the day hanging out. We played with the children and conversed with the two men that helped us rebuild the roof. Guillermo opened up and told us the story of how he came to Belize from Guatemala. He has only been in Belize for two years and does not speak very much english. Working with him was a fun challenge but it was nice to have an interpreter help us connect more with him.

As we sat and relaxed in the shade we received a very welcomed gift of fresh sugar cane straight from the feild. It was a great treat to wrap up our this section of our journey. With all of the hard work finished we look forward to a relaxing day tomorrow filled with a tour up the river of Mayan ruins.
