First Day of Work!

First, a quick recap from yesterday. We left at 5:45am from Ingersoll and then were at the airport in Buffalo at around 7:30 and then got on the plane at 10:45. After a short flight, we landed in New York at 12 and then we got on the next plane at around 1. The flight to the DR was long but thankfully we arrived safe and sound at 4:30. We were happily greeted by Carlos, our translator and Peaoh our driver. We had an eye opening drive to our hotel as we drove through the DR, it was beautiful but also humbling. Our hosts made us a tasty meal and we enjoyed fellowship together as a team for the remainder of the night.

Today was an amazing experience. We woke up and came down for breakfast around 7:30 and then went to the grocery store for water. We got to the school and got to work carrying bricks and filling gaps with mortar. We took lots of breaks because it was a very warm day but we accomplished a lot too! We were given wonderful meals for lunch and supper, and then we went for an evening walk as a team to explore Monte Plata. We got back and enjoyed more fellowship together.
