First Day of Travel

Wednesday, March 11th

The trip begin in prayer as we needed to decided whether or not to go to Nicaragua but with our Nicaraguan friends praying for us to come and families here praying for us to go, we felt at peace to board the plane. The students did not want to miss this opportunity and their parents were just as keen for this group to go.  As chaperones, it was a leap of faith in prayer for us because we were the ones who had to embark in order to support this mission.

Arriving at Toronto Pearson, we facilitated an interactive prayer circle as more news about Covid-19 coming in causing us to pause once again and consider turning back at 10 PM. Every team member participated in this and we then asked each student to connect with their parents to confirm whether or not to proceed.

As chaperones we connected with EduDeo here and in Nicaragua and they responded in love and support to come. They shared that they had been praying for a year for us to come and that realistically we were more of a risk to them than they were to us. Their response was, they felt the Lord would protect us and we should come.

Personally, it took time in prayer alone in the airport to ask for a sense of peace with this decision in order to proceed. With the Holy Spirit surrounding us, I was given a complete wave of calming peace within which provided the answer needed. A testimony of faith with this is sharing this situation with our EduDeo support staff, Nilda in Nicaragua a couple of days later, she shared that she was praying for us at the same time!

It was the first time in an airplane for many team members while others have been travelling a lot. All flights went well through Mexico City and then onto Managua, Nicaragua! It was a long day of travelling starting in our homes Wednesday and ended in Nicaragua midday on Thursday.
