Working in Matagalpa

Day 2 of our trip to Nicaragua is now coming to a close and we have had very, very eventful days.  Our trip began poorly when we discovered that Lizzie's passport was 5 months and 30 days from expiring and therefore she could not travel.  If we had left 5 hours earlier, all would have been well, but by 4:30 on Wednesday morning, she was just inside the 6 month window and as a result she couldn't board.  Happily that has now been resolved and she is traveling to us, but we won't see her until late tomorrow morning.

After that disappointment, everythng proceeded as we hoped.  Our flights were on time and uneventful.  We cleared Nicaraguan customs without issue and met Lennin and Lester, our guides and translators once again this year.  We traveled to the Nehemiah Center and marveled yet again at the visionary nature of the place (6 Christian development agencies working together out of one beautiful and simple facility) and then this morning we drove up to Matagalpa and began working at the school.

As a team, we have resolved to live in each moment of this trip as much as we can.  We are meeting incredible, visionary people and we are witnessing great things in the development of a new Christian school in Nicaragua.  We are in good health and spirits and we look forward to having Lizzie join us tomorrow to complete our team (she completes us).

We will write again tomorrow about the wonders that we are witnessing.
