Hey Educators!

Let's cut right to it: you're almost done! The end of the school year is so close, and you can see the finish line! Did you ever think you'd get here? Well, believe it or not: you did!

So, from me to you: congratulations! Whether we've had the pleasure of meeting or are still to be introduced, I know you've done your best. You've overcome obstacles, kept going no matter what, and been a example of Christ to your students. And that's truly commendable!

For this summer edition of The Chrysalis, I'm keeping it light! Take some time off, grab a book from our Summer Reading Menu, and reflect on all the joy we've seen this year.

Because no matter our circumstances, if we are in Christ, we live each day with His uncontainable joy.

PS. You may be taking some of the summer off, but I'm here year round! So, if you still want to connect during July and August, I'm happy to chat any time.

EduDeo's Summer Reading Menu

We've asked EduDeo staff, your fellow educators, and some of our partners for all their book recommendations and reviews - and they really delivered! We've got light reading, true stories, pedagogy, and more! Here's a sample:

The Switch, by Beth O'Leary // “Great intergenerational fiction read; kind of has the feel of "The Holiday" movie; I love a lil sweet fiction romance to take me away and this one takes the cake!”

Better Together: How Women and Men Can Heal the Divide and Work Together to Transform the Future, by Danielle Strickland // “A challenging book. While individuals may well enjoy it, I recommend that leadership teams wrestle together with the content. While women may be more quickly drawn to the content, it is equally important for men to engage.”

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, by Maya Angelou // “I read this book years ago and picked up a new copy last summer to give to my daughter as I believe it is a classic to be read and savored. Maya Angelou's resilient spirit woven through her poetic powerful words teach the reader the importance of kindness and compassion. Her strong faith is evident and Maya Angelou's story is sure to change one's heart forever.”

But don't just take their word for it: grab your library card, a comfy chair, and check out these books for yourself!

What's Been Happening in Schools This Spring?

We often say that there are so many ways to get involved with EduDeo... but maybe you're not sure what they look like in action.

Check out this update on learning opportunities, creative fundraising ideas, and cross-country classroom presentations - all great ways to get involved with EduDeo. If you get inspired and want to duplicate or adapt these activities for your class or school, let me know and we can work together!

Complete the Chrysalis Feedback Survey

We're always growing here at EduDeo and want The Chrysalis to be the best it can be. Take 3 minutes to fill out the survey and help us make this an even more valuable resource for you during the 2021-2022 school year.

The Annual Thank a Teacher Campaign

We're saying 'thank you' to all the educators in our lives and supporting teachers around the world at the same time with the annual Thank a Teacher campaign.

Purchase a thank you card, an end of year gift, or any item from the EduDeo Store before June 30 and you'll support teachers in Belize at the same time.

During the Thank a Teacher campaign, all proceeds help teachers in Belize access workshops about online teaching, and equip teachers at four elementary schools with computers.

But don't delay! Order today to ensure your purchase arrives in time for the end of the school year.

Join Our Book Club

We're starting an EduDeo book club! Join me (Laurie!) and your fellow educators this summer to discuss the book “Half The Sky” by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn

This book fits in well with our annual school campaign, "The Education Formula: Multiply Her Effect," which is promoting girls' education, especially in Zambia and the Dominican Republic.

We'll meet the first three Wednesdays in July (time TBD), so sign up and join us for great discussion and a great time!
