Day 3: Cinderblocks, Coconuts, and the Caribbean!

Today was a slower day at the worksite. None of us really minded, though; we were all pretty exhausted from the last two days of hard work! The women continued to work on the hole for the septic tank. We used a hammer drill to break up the layer of rock at the bottom of the hole, but it was a lot thicker than any of us anticipated! Thankfully, the local men rigged up a tarp so that we could have some shade while working. We all took turns using the drill and managed to get a bit deeper, but there is a lot of work still to be done.

Steve headed up a project on the preschool's playground. We took apart a slide and parts of the playground structure that were unsafe in order to make them more stable. He also made cement pads around the playground, and plans to fix the swing set next week.

The rest of us helped make mortar and lay cinderblocks on top of the cement foundation. Because there was less work today, we were able to leave at 2:40 and go back to the hotel. Some of us stayed in and rested, some of us went for walks, and some went swimming in the Caribbean!!

The day ended with another great dinner, a walk around town, and some card games. We are looking forward to church tomorrow, and we will be singing In Christ Alone in front of the congregation! Please pray that tomorrow will go smoothly and that we will have a restful and rejuvenating Sabbath! Thanks!
