Day 3

Today we woke up to what we hope will be a typical day in the Dominican; warmth and sunshine. Having said that, there's a downside to the heat and humidity: it's very tiring when you're lifting pails of concrete and concrete blocks all day. We had a great time but it was hard work. The new classrooms are already starting to take shape as we see the foundations laid and the block walls rising. We can also see the team starting to take shape as we get to know each other better and work together well. With Bernie's phenominal supervising skills and Bill's fantastic sense of humour we make it to the end of the day with smiles on our faces and lots of work accomplished. The old folks do let the youngens have some fun and a few even joined in our concrete fight but to no surprise grandma Eve lost and ended up with concrete in her ears and hair. (lol-laugh out loud not lots of love although we give her that too) The ride home from school is always very interesting and as we like to call it- organized chaos. We all took showers and had dinner followed by a lengthy group devotion. We're now enjoying some bonding time and playing games to end off the night.
