Greetings, fellow earthlings!
We had a productive day of work (yes, we worked on Saturday). We continued the tasks we've been performing for the past two days - staining doors and door frames, hanging strapping and drywalling, and plastering the stairwell. Kyle, Nathan, and John got a start on building a partition in Ruth's office.
We've all been honing our skills at our respective jobs this week. The girls have become experts at staining. It's a shame that they're done with the doors. Bill and Andrew can't think of anything they'd rather be doing this week than plastering. They've still got their work cut out for them.
A highlight of our day was discovering some more wildlife at the school. As it turns out, there have been two iguanas living in the wall of the preschool playground. One of them decided to pop out and greet us today.
We've been blessed with warm weather this week. Today was especially hot and humid. It's taken some time, but we've adjusted to the heat. There's been a rainshower every day we've been here. Ruth and Mario insist it's supposed to be their dry season. The rain makes it easier to bear the heat, since it takes away the humidity.
Ruth and Mario have been spoiling us with authentic Belizean meals. We've all become a fan of hot sauce (some of us smother our food in it).
In all, it's been a fantastic day, although we're ready for a day off. Tomorrow, we're headed to Altun Ha, a Mayan ruin nearby.
Until next time!
