Good Times and Giggles

Today there were giggles all around, especially between Tianna falling in the mud and Hlidy falling down in the middle of a photo shoot. Toliet paper going in the garbage has also been a new experience and clothes hangers were often needed to fish it out. Lastly, communicating with local construction workers using many hand gestures had us all looking for Franklin's translations.

We started our work day with a Bible passage from Psalm 136. We did this by taking turns saying it in both languages, and then responding with "His love endures forever," in both languages. Then we started working on building the walls for the new classroom. Many of us helped by putting mortar in between the bricks, but this required the help of the local construction workers. which we are very grateful for. Brick by brick the foundation began to look like a classroom.

For lunch, we had white rice with a bean sauce as well as a cod sauce which was delicious. After playing a short game we got to walk to Luciano's farm, where we saw many ethnic fruits and got to taste some as well. We saw bananas, cocoa beans, limes, hot peppers, and passion fruit. We got to try cocoa beans which did not taste like chocolate, as well as rrulo which is like a banana. We found this fruit to be much sweeter than your average grocery store banana. Then we headed back to the school with a donkey right on our tails which resulted in much amusment.

We worked until 4 and then got the opportunity to go see a river in the area. We saw someone driving their motorcycle through the river instead of a car wash to clean it. Coming home to a shower and burgers and fries was like coming home to Canada. We ended our night with our regular devotions and a game and hope to head to bed earlier than last night.

We are very thankful God has kept us all well and has allowed us to enjoy our days and his creation and looking forward to what He has to show us tomorrow!

Buenas Naches
