It's Friday

Greetings from Belize!

We had another day of work today.  Our day started out the same as yesterday.  We ate breakfast at Mario and Ruth's home, then we were off to the school for the day.

The girls were in charge of sanding and staining doors for the classroom upstairs.  Rev. Hoogland and Andrew continued plastering the staircase, Craig and John were installing strapping on the classroom ceiling, and Kyle and Nathan were working all over the school.

We came across a teacher today whose classroom was in need of some repairs.  For some time, there have been owls living in the bell tower above the classroom.  Every morning she goes to school early to clean up her floor from the mess that the owls have left.  When we heard about it, we decided that something needed to be done about the problem.  Since Kyle and Nathan were waiting for supplies to arrive for their task, they took it upon themselves to help the teacher by installing a proper cover for the bell tower access hole.  To help you understand, we'll post some pictures on our Facebook page later on.

I shared this because it gives an example of some of the conditions the teachers have to deal with at New Life Christian School.  They're in charge of their own classrooms; there is no custodian to clean up the rooms or fix problems that come up with the school.  They're thankful that teams can come to help keep up the school as needed.

After work, we came back to the hotel and did some unwinding.  We spent some time in devotions together and had dinner.  We're quite comfortable around each other, and this is helping us to strengthen relationships with each other on this trip.

Once again, we're thankful for the prayers and support you've all given us, and will be getting in touch with you tomorrow.

Have a great night!
