Despite scattered showers throughout the day, it was still hot, humid and sunny. We are starting to get used to the more relaxed atmosphere of the schedule here, although for some of us, it is a test of our patience. The forms were finished today, ready for us to pour in the concrete tomorrow. Some of the ladies were blessed with having some odd jobs to do such as fixing the concrete ties that were made too short yesterday. Brenda and Donna fixed the broom handle by finding tubing to fit right over top. It sure beat the fix it job Derek tried with the wire :)
Irene had the oppotunity to teach in the classroom again this morning. They were learning about diamonds, the 10 lepers, and she told them the story of the 3 little pigs. In the afternoon we ran a VBS for 2 hours, focusing on God creating the flowers and trees on the 3rd day of creation. The children had fun singing songs with actions, colouring flowers, and playing with water balls outside. We even got them all to go after Mrs. Bootsma with the water, their teacher laughing so hard at the reactions on Mrs.Boostma's face and the excitement of the kids.
As a team, a highlight of the day was spending time with the community kids on the front lawn of the church. Our friends Zion and Venesio ("Vinny") brought fresh coconuts from their own trees and cut them for us to try the milk and then eat the meat. We ended the day with a stroll through Corozal along the coast and came back for devotions and debriefing.
Thanks again for all your prayers and comments, we can certainly feel the Lord's presence here.
